B+E Car / Van and Trailer Towing Practice, Training and Test


Need help to drive a trailer? Take training and sit your DSA driving test to get B+E entitlement and drive up to 3.5 tones gross vehicle weight (GVW) with trailer that is over 750kgs GVW trailer.

The B+E car and trailer training is needed when you wish to drive a car towed with a trailer or a caravan. Towing a vehicle can be a difficult task and to drive around with a towing vehicle needs a lot of expertise and skills. It is not a job of a layman and unless you are well trained in towing, you should not try driving a towing vehicle on the road.

Undergoing a B+E car and trailer training can enable to you learn different methods and procedures of towing a vehicle and also how to drive around with the same on road in various traffic conditions.

Ever since there were changes made in the driving license laws in January 1997, the B+E car and trailer training program and the license test was introduced in the market. Thus it is also imperative to mention that if you have your basic driving license obtained on or before January 1997, you would not need to pass the B+E car and trailer license test. But in case you have obtained your driving license after January 1997, you will have to appear for the B+E car and trailer test for driving a van or a car that is towed with a caravan, a horsebox or a trailer. Just remember that the gross weight of the combination vehicle should not be more than 3500 kg.

    Training Options


    We provide trailer awareness and familiarization training for anyone who has B+E entitlement but is simply looking to gain more knowledge and confidence in towing, reversing and use of towing hitches.

    For B+E licence acquisition, we recommend arranging one or a few single days of training or an intensive course of training leading into test day. Take an Assessment Lesson so that one of our Instructors can give you guidance to the duration of training needed. .
